Keeping mass transit ridership high, and fares affordable, is essential to Santa Monica’s plan to reduce car traffic and make our city a more pleasant place to live. 

Suggested rate hikes to deal with Big Blue Bus revenue shortfalls would have been just too hurtful, especially for seniors and students.  Instead, I call upon us to rethink the fare increases and protect vulnerable riders.
