Based on suggestions from six neighborhood groups, the Santa Monica Democratic Club, and Santa Monicans for Renters’ Rights, I brought to the City Council a requested policy to disclose whether an applicant for special favors had been a significant donor to the election campaigns of any of the Councilmembers.

This seemed like something a City Councilmembers would do willingly, but my motion lost on a heated 4 to 2 vote.
