Santa Monica

The Santa Monica public owns a large parcel of valuable land that until 2015 must remain an airport, which many residents would like to replace.  What could we do instead?

One suggestion has been a regional park.  One thing the public land will NEVER be is a high-rise development, although some who wish to retain the airport as it is at any cost are trying to scare voters.

Watch for yourself.  The Airport Concept Plan is limited to low impact uses, and offers much promise for both airport relief and exciting new public uses.

For background on what has happened till now, I have a brief history of Airport issues here on my website.

What to do about the existing leases on airport land, a number of which are for NON-aviation uses?
